One of the most powerful social selling tools is the ability to “share” across multiple social channels. You may be asking yourself why is that so powerful? Think of it this way, there is a whole different audience of potential customers to reach on each and every social outlet and more than likely your products are being displayed in one location. How can you possibly reach the audience that’s on Twitter, or Pinterest, and the all mighty Facebook that are just waiting to buy your products? With a share that is!
Now did you know that this tool is available in your Facebook store already? I bet you didn’t! It’s the button we’ve labeled “Get Advice from Friends,” which is actually a Facebook share button. The power of a share can be the definitive mark for whether or not your Facebook shop becomes a success or just fades into your business/fan page.
Why is a share so powerful?
Let’s start with a story shall we… One day Susie met her friends for coffee and she happened to be wearing a new scarf she just purchased. Her friends loved the scarf and they started to hound her about where she got it. Susie then began to tell them that she was on Facebook last week and saw that her friend Lindsey posted about a new hat she just bought. Susie then explained how Lindsey always has the best style so she was curious and clicked on the link. It took her to the Facebook store where she discovered the new scarf she is now wearing.
The point of that fun, little story is without that share Susie would have never known about the scarf and hat store. They would have not made an additional sale, or gained the loyalty of a new customer. The two key elements to this shopping situation that is crucial for the success of your social shop is awareness and social psychology.
In general Facebook shopping is still a new concept. There is still a large amount of the population that isn’t aware that you can buy something from Facebook. With that in mind, you need to think about all the ways you can draw attention to your store. Your fans and customers won’t click on the application and magically discover that you have a store. The best way to promote your store, while promoting a product at the same time is through the share feature.
Let’s take a look at Brian Solis’ perspective on the future of commerce. He likes to call the new generation of shoppers “Generation C,” because of their “connectiveness” across their social channels. Generation C is more socially connected then any other generation and they are looking at their social networks to help them make shopping decisions. By sharing your products you are creating awareness around your store and engaging the Gen C landscape like Susie and Lindsey.
“50 percent of consumers are somewhat to strongly influenced by social media when making an online purchase,” according to Social Commerce Today. By giving the power of a share to your fans and customers, you are arming them with the tools to be your social advocates to influence their friends purchasing decisions. So what does that mean for you? That means that when you encourage users to share your products and their friends see the share, they will be curious to see what their friends purchased. In other words you have now opened your products and services up to a whole new audience that would have not been reached without a share.
Don’t let this powerhouse of a promotion opportunity pass you by! Make sure you have turned on the “Get Advice from Friends” in your ShopTab admin under the Settings tab then Store Design. You can also change the name of the feature to best suite your brand under Settings then Translate.
You can also share your own products on your Facebook timeline.
