We recently published a post showing some shocking stats about Facebook store sales volume growth over the past year, but what’s most shocking isn’t what’s being sold or who’s doing the selling. It’s what device the selling is happening on.
You guessed it. Mobile.
Mobile sales are at record levels, and more and more social shoppers are making purchases through mobile devices.
Facebook’s growth on mobile phones specifically has been unprecedented. They say that 85% of Facebook users access the social network through mobile devices, and the numbers are only expected to rise.
We looked at sales volume for all ShopTab Facebook stores using our integrated cart to see how sales have changed year-over-year.
Our numbers are showing an increase from 8.5% to 69.7% from 2014 to 2015. This is a massive shift in how online buyers spend their money, and the shift isn’t just for Facebook.
Mobile adoption is growing 8x faster than web adoption did in the 1990s and early 2000s. Latitude, a digital marketing agency, reports that 63% of people expect to be doing more mobile shopping over the next year.
Here’s another surprising stat. According to Kissmetrics:
78% of mobile searches for local business information result in a purchase.
That’s a huge conversion rate. Since a Facebook page is the natural place for local business information, it makes sense to draw people to your page where they can research products and make a purchase all without leaving Facebook.
