Pinterest is growing rapidly, and while Facebook still drives more sales than any other social media website, it shouldn’t be overlooked. Just three years after their launch, Pinterest has more than 70 million users and 500,000 business accounts.
When selling on Facebook, it’s important to consider cross-promoting your products in other channels. You want to tweet, pin, and email your way to success (while continue to promote the items on your Facebook wall).
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to take products from your Facebook shop and put them into a board on Pinterest, giving Pinterest users all over the world the ability to visit your Facebook store app and purchase your products.
Step 1: Create Your Facebook Shop
If you haven’t already built your shop, you can build a free Facebook store with our 7-day trial. Just click “Create a Facebook Store” tab at the top of this page to get started.
Step 2: Sign up for a Pinterest Business Account
The sign-up process is quick and painless. Visit https://business.pinterest.com/en and click “Join as a business”
3. Create Your First Board
When you’ve finished adding your businesses information, you’ll be taken to Pinterest’s main page where you’ll be able to create your own “Boards” – these are just collections of images about a particular topic. So if you’re selling art on your Facebook store, you might title your board “Watercolor Paintings”. Make the title of your Board something searchable so other people browsing Pinterest can stumble upon it.
Here’s a Board we created titled “Facebook Selling”. We added some of our own images and also searched Pinterest for relevant images that might interest our customers.
To add images to your Board, all you have to do is select “Add a Pin”.
4. Add Your Facebook Shop Products
Now it’s time to start populating your Board with your Facebook store products. You have a couple of options here. If you already have your product images saved to your computer, you can just select “Add a Pin” and then select “Your Computer”.
Your second option is to push the product to Pinterest directly from your Facebook store app. Go into your Facebook store, find the product you want to push to Pinterest, and then click the Pinterest button, shown here:
A pop-up will appear that allows you to select the Board you want to post to (with a message!) or create a new Board.
Congrats. You’re on your way to being a professional social seller. Continue to populate your Pinterest boards and interact with other pages on Pinterest to drive traffic to Facebook store.
TIP: Don’t forget to put your Facebook shop URL in your Pinterest pin! Then when people click on your product in Pinterest they’ll be able to visit your shop, like your page, and (hopefully) make the purchase!
